Rise COVID19 cases in Qatar expected coming weeks

In an interview with Al Rayyan TV, Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center at Hamad Medical Corporation, discussed the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Qatar. From 27 July to 3 July, the daily average of new cases among community members and travelers reached 662 which marks the total number of active cases in Qatar as 5,045.

Dr. Al Maslami explains to Al Rayyan TV that Qatar as well as many other countries around the world are experiencing a spike in cases as travel restrictions have begun to ease and travelers returning to the country may carry the virus without showing symptoms. She further shares that the numbers are expected to increase in the following weeks, stressing the need to observe preventive guidelines and continue to wear masks in crowded and closed places.

Dr. Al Maslami reminds the public to get vaccinated and necessary booster shots as well as observe traditional health preventive measures such as hand washing and sanitizing regularly. She also adds that remote work is not expected if the public adheres to the proper guidelines.
