Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation has announced the postponement of the 2020 IJF Masters, scheduled to be held in Doha from May 28-30, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid 19). The decision to postpone the organization of the tournament came at the request of the International Judo Federation (IJF), with a new date for the tournament set at another time.
The Qatar Judo Federation announced that it would host the tournament after signing its organization contract with the International Federation at its headquarters in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, in October 2018. The Championship is one of the largest Judo tournament in the world and includes the 16 best players from the first world class in every weight, qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which was announced to be postponed until next year.
Doha will also host the World Judo Championship 2023 qualifying for the 2024 Olympics, which will see the participation of more than 117 countries. Doha had the honour to host these two championships due to the great experience that the State of Qatar has in hosting and organizing major international championships
