In an interview with Qatar Television on 14 June 2021, Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, medical director of Hamad General Hospital mentioned that the percentage of vaccinated people contracting COVID-19 is almost zero as compared to the unvaccinated people, hence, the risk of transmission of infection from a person who has been vaccinated is very small.
Dr. Al Maslamani also advised people to avoid travel currently and if they do travel, he mentioned that it is better for them to go to an epidemiologically stable country, otherwise they may be exposed to the virus.
The Medical Official said the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has established many vaccination centers outside health centers, which has led to an acceleration in the vaccination rate in the country. He said, “Some people do not want to be vaccinated, it's their right but we must reach 70-80% vaccinated rate to protect the society". He also mentioned that this percentage is likely to be achieved in October.
