As the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) broke out, Qatar has made great efforts to curb the spread of the virus to ensure the safety of every national or resident in the country. To mobilize support for the government’s COVID-19 control initiatives, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) intensified its efforts to respond to the community's most pressing needs.

The pandemic has posed an unprecedented challenge to a large number of poor families and expatriate workers in Qatar as many of them had to stop their work and were subject to home quarantine. To address the challenge, QRCS has launched a fundraising campaign to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19), protect the medical and other professionals fighting the virus, and help the vulnerable families financially affected by the stay-at-home policy.

QCRS has called on people to contribute to various relief funds to fight against the coronavirus pandemic and to create positive steps to help the vulnerable. Everyone can now support directly the response coordinated by QRCS in Qatar. People and organizations who want to support QRCS can now donate to provide for the most vulnerable people.

2020 Coronavirus Control

A series of initiatives to control Coronavirus for the benefit of 12,000 persons by providing health and psychological services for those at risk of infection at quarantine locations & raising awareness of workers at health centers, companies & factories at a total cost of QR 5,650,000.

Health Care

Provision of health care, logistics & administrative support (medical professionals, security, services, etc.) for the benefit of 12,000 persons at quarantine locations at a total cost of QR 1,750,000.

Psychological support

Facilitating psychological support for the benefit of 12,000 quarantined persons to boost their morale throughout the isolation period at a total cost of QR 250,000.

Health Protection Supplies

Provision of health-protective supplies for the benefit of 12,000 persons such as masks & sanitizers for protection against Coronavirus outbreak at a total cost of QR 1,095,000.

Food parcels

Distribution of food parcels & vouchers to 3,666 workers of farms & contracting companies containing diverse food items such as vegetable oil, rice, tea, sugar, salt & pasta at a total cost of QR 274,950

Treatment of miscellaneous diseases

Providing medications to treat 65 patients with aging-associated diseases, eye diseases, thalassemia, congenital defects, or cancer at a total cost of QR 1,001,000.
