People who are aged 65 years of age and above are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a Tweet by Hamad Medical Corporation.

The Ministry of Public Health announced earlier today that it had lowered the age threshold for COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to 65 years of age. Before this, only people who were 70 years of age were eligible for the vaccine along with front-liners who had repeated exposure to COVID-19 and those with chronic diseases.

Based on this amendment, there are three priority groups who are currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations:

  1. People aged 65 years of age and above.
  2. People with severe chronic conditions.
  3. Healthcare workers with repeated exposure to COVID-19.
