Gradual opening of Industrial Area streets

  • HE Spokesperson of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management,Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater has said that the gradual opening of the closed part of Industrial Area will begin from Wednesday, April 22, starting from street No 1 and 2 and Al Wakalat street.
  • The work will continue to open the remaining part of the area as per the medical information in the interests of the people.
  • Around 6,500 workers were shifted in preparation to partially open the closed part. They were shifted to precautionary quarantine facilities to screen for early detection despite no symptoms of the infection for their and others' safety in the area.

COVID-19

  • Qatar has the lowest death rate in the Arab world and one of the lowest in the world compared to the number of infected
  • A scientific method to understand the numbers of COVID infections has been adopted.
  • 90% of cases are light, 1% are serious and 9% are hospitalized.
  • The first hike in COVID-19 cases occurred in March and was linked to the return of Qataris from abroad. Then we witnessed relative stability and then another rise related to the discovery of a group of cases from the Industrial area and this led to closure of the area.
  • We entered the peak phase of the spread of the Corunavirus, and the commitment of the majority to preventive measures during the past period was appreciated and demonstrated a high sense of responsibility.
  • Family visits were among the most important reasons for the spread of the Coronavirus among Qataris in particular.
  • The health system in Qatar is still able to absorb cases, but there are plenty of scopes to deal with more cases, and this is an important indicator.
  • Most of the healing cases from Corona are concentrated in the middle age, for the first two factors. The percentage of injuries is higher among them, and the second is that they are more susceptible and faster with regard to the recovery period because most chronic diseases appear in the advanced ages.
  • Not all deaths are necessarily linked to the Coronavirus, but it happens that those who died, they had the virus.
  • Early detection of cases explains the length of the injuries and helps to recovery.
  • Laboratory tests for the population of the State of Qatar amount to 20,200 tests per million people.

Inspection campaigns

  • Intensifying patrols and inspection campaigns and controlling violators of all relevant laws, including the Law on Prevention of Congregations are continuing.

Ramadan and preventive measures

Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater urged everyone to stay safe and stay home.

"It is necessary to continue applying preventive measures, the most important of which is not leaving the house except for necessities, wearing masks, washing and sanitizing hands and practicing adequate social distance, especially as we are entering the blessed month of Ramadan.

She stressed that this pandemic may remind us that God's ability is above all ability and that we must from now on pay attention to what adds to our selves, our societies and our countries and seize the coincidence of the month of Ramadan with this pandemic to rearrange our priorities and focus on what is beneficial and constructive

We call upon all and urge to avoid family gatherings during Ramadan month," HE the spokesperson said.
