Mowasalat (Karwa) confirmed its readiness to operate public and school transport services with the beginning of the fourth phase of the gradual lifting of the precautionary measures implemented by the State to fight the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, during which it was decided to resume public transport and metro services starting from today.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, Mowasalat (Karwa) Chairman, said:

“We are confident in our excellent capabilities to resume operating our services in line with the timing set by the State, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), and other concerned authorities."
“Mowasalat (Karwa) has all the capabilities and expertise to provide safe transportation taking into account passengers safety and adhere to precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of the virus in accordance with the recommendations, conditions and health regulations of the Ministry of Public Health and the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management in the State of Qatar. Mowasalat also provides the highest precautionary and safety measures in school buses at the beginning of the new school year through the implementation of procedures that have been put in place to ensure the safety of our students, which is our top priority, in order to provide them a safe journey to and from schools.”

Mowasalat (Karwa) has implemented preventive measures as per MOTC with resuming public bus services at the fourth phase, to fight the spread of COVID-19 to ensure safe transportation for passengers, including complete daily sanitization of public transport buses, conducting COVID-19 tests for all drivers and daily temperature screening to ensure their good health. In addition, Mowasalat drivers are committed to wear face masks during trips. Public bus services will be resumed with 30% capacity, for ensuring social distancing. All passengers are to wear face masks, get their temperature screened inside buses and at major bus stations, also ensuring operating “Ehteraz” app before boarding the bus. Unaccompanied children under the age of 12 are not allowed to ride the bus, nor people with medical conditions or chronic illness, for their own safety.

Mowasalat has geared up 2400 school buses to transport students with the start of the new school year, with full implementation of precautionary and preventive measures, including daily sterilization of buses, temperature screening for students who are requiring to wear face masks. Mowasalat also provides awareness leaflets and videos for the safety of students and their families, and limit the spread of Covid-19, With full adherence to implementing social distancing while seated with the help of the school supervisor on the school bus.

Mowasalat (Karwa) has provided all technological solutions, which in turn help in booking and electronic payment processes. They also provide real-time updated information on daily routes of buses, and facilitate taxi booking through Karwa Taxi app and Karwa Bus app which are available for Android and IOS.
