The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has posted on its social media the update on the instructions for the gradual lifting of restrictions on all restaurants and cafes in Qatar. This followed the announcement of the Qatar Cabinet regarding reimposing COVID-19 restrictions.

This decision goes into effect as of Thursday, February 4, 2021

Within the framework of the preventive measures adopted to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as to preserve the health and safety of Qatar's citizens and residents, and as a continuation of previous decisions and procedures, the following has been decided:

  • Limiting the capacity of indoor seating areas to 15% of the premises' total capacity.
  • Limiting the capacity of indoor seating areas to 30% of the premises' total capacity (for restaurants and cafés that have the "Qatar Clean" Program certificate).
  • Limiting the capacity of outdoor seating areas to 50% of the commercial site's total capacity.
  • Closing food courts in shopping centers and malls, such that restaurants only prepare takeaway or delivery orders.

All restaurants and café management and staff shall adhere to implementing health and safety measures. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stresses that violating this decision exposes perpetrators to the penalties stipulated in the laws, decisions, and regulations in force.

This decision may be subject to amendments and updates according to the latest developments in this regard. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry calls on all citizens and residents to seek information only from official sources and to consult the Ministry's website and social media pages for the latest news and updates.
