The Ministry of Municipality and Environment implemented Al Furjan Campaign, which is derived from the Ministry's Voluntary Action Initiative Support Committee, where residential neighborhoods were disinfected and cleansed as part of a comprehensive campaign for all municipalities.

These campaigns, in which the specialised agencies of the Ministry participated in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent volunteers, were part of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to maintain public cleanliness, health and safety of the public, in the framework of the preventive efforts and measures taken by the state to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The campaigns targeted many vital facilities and the internal streets of residential complexes as well as the areas of the neighborhoods and main streets.

Director of the General Cleaning Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Muqbil Madhour Al Shammari stressed that the cleaning agents used in disinfecting are environment friendly, explaining that one of the goals of these campaigns is to train the volunteer group in spraying, disinfecting and control methods, to involve them in the state's efforts to protect the public and work to reduce the spread of this pandemic.

Meanwhile, Head of the Public Cleaning Department in Umm Salal, Hamad Al Breidi called on the public to adhere to the instructions of the competent authorities and stay in homes for their own safety and the safety of everyone.

Voluntary Action Initiative Support Committee at the MME was formed by a ministerial decision, and it is concerned with developing volunteer work plans from organising campaigns to health control, food and hygiene in all municipalities.
