H.H. The Amir in Saudi Arabia today (Amiri Diwan)

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has directed relevant authorities in Qatar to send urgent medical assistance to the Republic of India to support its efforts in combating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to QNA.

Subsequently, India's Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi in a Tweet announced that he had a "good conversation" with H.H. the Amir. PM Modi also mentioned that he thanked His Highness the Amir for the solidarity and offer of support in India's fight against COVID-19. He also conveyed his gratitude for the care being provided to the Indian community in Qatar.

India is currently seeing a devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with over 2,978,709 active cases recorded as of 28 April 2021.
