MOPH extends validity of booster dose immunity or COVID-19 recovery to 12 months

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced that the validity of COVID-19 immunity from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose or following recovery from infection has been extended to 12 months.

The decision to extend the duration to 12 months validity of immunity for those who have received the booster dose and for recovered patients has been made in line with the latest scientific and clinical evidence which indicates that the protective immunity lasts for up to 12 months in these individuals.

  • The validity of COVID-19 immunity following the booster dose is increased from 9 months to 12 months.
  • All individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, are given 12 months validity of COVID-19 immunity.

The Ministry said that it will regularly review the duration of validity in line with the latest clinical evidence and COVID-19 status.

The Ministry stressed the importance of all eligible members of the community receiving their booster vaccine dose promptly. Anyone aged 12 years and over who had their second vaccine dose more than 6 months ago is eligible for the booster dose.
