The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has posted on its Twitter account the guidelines for the resumption of cleaning and hospitality services during Phase 4 of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. The announcement states that in line with the previous decisions and measures adopted to preserve the health and safety of Qatar's citizens and residents and to limit the spread of the coronavirus, the following has been decided:

Allowing cleaning and hospitality services companies to resume their work in workplaces and homes, provided that staffing levels do not exceed 30% of total operating capacity, in addition to adhering to the requirements of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.

Precautionary measures for customers

Based on the decision, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry stresses the importance of continuing to adhere to the precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, calling on customers of cleaning and hospitality service companies to apply the following guidelines:

1. Allowing workers of cleaning and hospitality service companies into the workplace or home only after checking the health colour code on the Ehteraz app. Only green code holders are allowed in.

2. Checking the body temperature of workers before providing the service, and to deny entry to individuals whose temperature exceeds 38 degrees Celsius.

3. Requiring cleaning and hospitality service workers to wear medical masks and gloves for the duration of their time in the workplace or house.

For the company owners

The owners of cleaning and hospitality services companies should comply with the circulars, decisions and directives related to the epidemic prevention, including:

  • Instructions for the gradual reopening plan, and the timeline announced by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management
  • Circulars and decisions issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry
  • Instructions related to the responsibilities of employers to limit the spread of the coronavirus and directives for health and safety regulations issued by MoPH.
  • The policies set by the MADLSA on the precautionary measures to prevent and reduce the spread of the epidemic.

Effective date

The decision goes into effect on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, and may be subject to amendments and updates according to the latest developments in this regard. Any violation of this decision will subject perpetrators to legal accountability and procedures.

The Ministry stresses that the success of each stage of the comprehensive plan for the gradual lifting of restrictions depends on the adherence of all individuals to the required preventive and precautionary measures.
