In an interview with Qatar Television on 7 June 2021, Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, medical director of Hamad General Hospital mentioned that people who recovered from COVID-19 are given the same privileges as the vaccinated people based on the latest scientific findings that the recovered people have antibodies for nine months which gives them protection.

With respect to COVID-19 vaccines, Dr. Al Maslamani said that there is no addition to the six approved currently.

The official also said that recently, there has been an agreement among the GCC Ministers of Public Health regarding the approval of applications similar to ETHERAZ within the GCC countries. He also mentioned that work is underway for the same and once the process is complete, a decision would be issued.

Regarding the decreasing cases in Qatar currently, he said that it was due to the community’s commitment to preventive measures and the high rate of vaccination. Dr. Al Maslamani said that it will decrease more in the future, and will help in the next phase of lifting restrictions.
