The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) released a Tweet that COVID-19 vaccines are available at QNCC by appointment only and walk-ins will not be vaccinated without an appointment SMS. People who have received the first dose will get an SMS for the appointment of the second dose.

The Ministry of Public Health has replied to our query regarding this matter and they replied that the COVID-19 vaccination at QNCC is by invitation only.

ILQ team received many messages about the clarification of people receiving the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at QNCC as they have seen people receiving it and posting about it on their social media.
The messages we received say the following: 1- people just walked into QNCC without an appointment, 2- there were two separate queues for walk-ins and appointments, 3- no one was checking the SMS confirmation message, and 4- they were able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at QNCC.
People with the appointment at QNCC also messaged us that they had to wait for over 2-3 hours to receive their vaccine.
Previously, MoPH clarified on 19 February 2021, that a social media post being circulated online about the possibility of obtaining COVID-19 vaccination for everyone who wishes to go to the vaccination centre at the Qatar National Convention Center is NOT true.

In an earlier announcement on 20 February 2021, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) had also mentioned that the vaccine at QNCC is intended for specific groups on a priority basis.

The targeted groups will receive an SMS invitation to come to the vaccination centre on the dates specified in the SMS. The vaccine will only be given to those who have received an invitation while others are required to wait until they receive an SMS invitation, provided they carry a valid health card when coming to the scheduled vaccine appointment.
The latest update by MoPH is that one cannot get the vaccine without a prior appointment. We have reached out to MoPH asking for any further changes on this and we will update accordingly.
