EHTERAZ app: Frequently asked questions

Reiterating the new precautionary measures by the Cabinet, Qatar citizens and residents are also urged to stay at home during the coming Eid Al Fitr.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation, and Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, Communicable Disease Center Medical Director, chaired the press conference.

Qatar records one death, 1491 new confirmed cases, 966 new recovered cases of COVID-19 on May 20

The Ministry of Public Health announces the registration of one death, 1491 new confirmed cases of Corona virus (Covid-19), and 966 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry states that the new cases are due to expatriate workers who were infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who were previously infected, in addition to recording new cases of infection among groups of workers in different regions. The new cases have been identified after conducting investigations by the research and investigation teams of the Ministry of Public Health that contributed to early detection of cases.

HMC announces increase in capacity; bringing the number of beds to combat COVID-19 to 3500

The Chairman of the Health System Committee for Accident Control at Hamad Medical Corporation Dr. Saad Al Kaabi, revealed that in the next two weeks, an additional clinical capacity will be provided in hospitals, bringing the total number of new beds that were provided as part of Qatar's strategy to face Corona epidemic (Covid-19) to approximately 3,500 beds.

Dr. Al Kaabi stressed that there is no lack of beds for patients who need hospitalization, but members of society must at the same time continue to act proactively to prevent Coronavirus infection and prevent its spread.

Government Communications Office statement in response to Human Rights Watch report

The State of Qatar expressed its total rejection of the allegations included in the report issued by Human Rights Watch of an alleged coronavirus outbreak in Qatar's Central Prison, affirming that this report is false.

The Government Communication Office said in a statement on Tuesday that there have been 12 confirmed cases in the Central Prison and zero deaths. Those 12 patients were transferred immediately to a secure, purpose-built medical facility operated on-site by Hamad Medical Corporation where they have received, or continue to receive, first-class medical treatment.

COVID-19 healthcare workers receive salute from sky as tribute

Supreme Judiciary Council extends suspension of court sessions

Qatar records 1,365 new confirmed cases, 529 new recovered cases of COVID-19 on May 18

Ministry of Public Health today announces the registration of 1,365 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 529 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the State of Qatar to 4,899.

During the last 24 hours, 19 new cases have been admitted to intensive care due to complications resulting from the infection, bringing the total number of people in intensive care units to 172. Masks are now mandatory in Qatar; are children exempted?

With masks now mandatory upon leaving the house, parents in Qatar have been asking whether children are exempt from this rule, especially children under the age of 2 due to the risk of suffocation.

Last May 14, the Cabinet has decided effective May 17, 2020, all are required to wear a mask outside of their residence except in the case when a person is alone while driving a vehicle. In case of non-compliance, penalties stipulated are a fine not exceeding QR 200,000, imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years, or one of these two penalties. This decision is the latest preventive measure that Qatar has implemented to control the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Qatar increases efforts to protect the elderly from COVID 19

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) urged all citizens and residents in Qatar to take every measure to keep the elderly population away and safe from the Coronavirus (COVID-19), especially as we approach Eid Al Fitr.
