Today, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic during a news conference in Geneva. According to the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus:

"In the days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths, and the number of affected countries climb even higher.
"WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction."

He pointed out:

"We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterised as a pandemic"
"Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO's assessment of the threat posed by this coronavirus (COVID-19). It doesn't change what WHO is doing, and it doesn't change what countries should do."

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases around the world reached 113,752, and all the countries that reported injuries recorded 4,018 deaths from the virus. Qatar has just recorded 262 cases today, an increase of 238 since yesterday, when the number was 24.
