In a post in its official social media accounts, Education Above All announced the launch of a new online platform that will give all workers the opportunity to talk with someone in their own language about community-related topics.
"As a response to COVID-19, EAA’s Reach Out To Asia programme trained 40 volunteers to resource “Connecting for Care”, an online campaign launched to provide social support to quarantined workers in Qatar.
As a collaborative effort between Qatar Foundation, Reach Out To Asia, World Innovation Summit for Health - WISH Modaris and Ministry of Transport and Communications, the project aims to reach 1.2 million workers nationwide through an interactive website that allows migrant workers to talk to volunteers in their native language, fostering connectivity between the different communities, improving literacy among the worker community, and contributing to their psycho-social and social well-being.
The initiative is a dynamic addition to existing government hotlines put in place to help residents in Qatar seek information and get support related to #COVID19. Website link: cfc.qa"
Users can connect with a volunteer by choosing their native language (English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Bengali, Malayalam, Sinhala, Tamil, or Tagalog) and clicking the "Chat" button. According to the website, the volunteers are there to "have friendly conversations, offer support, connect users with useful resources, and give health and fitness advice."
This site is supported by several volunteers and entities across Qatar to ensure that everyone is up to date.
