UPDATE: 9 March 2021

The Ministry of Public Health has extended the validity of the vaccine in regard to the quarantine exemption period from the previously approved three months to six months, starting 14 days after the second dose.

The MoPH has also stated that "Non-vaccinated children below 16 years of age are permitted to undergo home quarantine, rather than hotel quarantine when returning with fully vaccinated parents from non-green list countries."

Children (up to 16 years old) will be exempted from hotel quarantine if accompanied by a parent who has received both doses of the vaccine in Qatar and will only be required to home quarantine for 7 days, according to an update in Discover Qatar's website.

Quarantine update for arrivals from Red Zone countries

According to the Welcome Home 7-night booking page:

  • Exempted from quarantine - Any adult (18 or over) who has received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine from a medical facility in Qatar, with the second vaccine received at least 14 days before the date of entry into Qatar.
  • Home quarantine (7 days) - Any child up to the age of 16 will be exempted from hotel quarantine if accompanied by a parent who has received the vaccine in line with the above qualifications.
  • Hotel quarantine (7 days) - For parents traveling with a minor aged 16-18 where the minor has not received the vaccine in line with the above qualifications, regardless if the parent has received the vaccinations or otherwise. Other conditions in the Welcome Home booking page must also be followed.

Discover Qatar has also added these new updates on its FAQ regarding Entry Requirements into Qatar.

Are there any exemptions to the self-funded 7-day quarantine for those who have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine?

If you are traveling from any red zone country, exceptions to the self-funded 7-day quarantine, which are instead exempted from all quarantine requirements if the following all apply to each adult (18 years and over) in the traveling party:
- All adults have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine from a medical facility in Qatar
- The second dose of the vaccine was received no less than 14 days before the date or return to Qatar
If all adults on the booking qualify for exemption from quarantine due to meeting each of the above criteria, and there are minors in the traveling party:
    - Any minor under the age of 16 on the date of return to Qatar is exempted from hotel quarantine and will be required to quarantine at home for a period of 7 days
    - Any minor 16 years or over must be accompanied by a parent and will be subject to normal quarantine rules

Discover Qatar added that for those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine in a foreign country, normal quarantine rules will continue to apply.

According to the Ministry of Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine FAQ, fully vaccinated people are exempt from quarantine requirements following travel abroad and following exposure to a COVID-19 positive case.

      The quarantine exemption criteria are:

      • 14 days must have passed after receiving the second dose before returning to Qatar and a negative PCR test is required on return to Qatar following travel or following exposure.
      • The quarantine exemption is valid for a period of three months, starting 14 days after the second dose, and this may be extended in the future with the availability of more clinical evidence.
      • The exemption does not currently apply to people vaccinated in other countries.
