The answer is no. Anyone who is 12+ must have the EHTERAZ app before they enter the malls in Qatar. If they don't have a mobile at the entrance to the mall with the EHTERAZ app, they will not be allowed to enter the mall.

We got in touch with the malls in Qatar and those that responded which included Doha Festival City, Mall of Qatar and Tawar Mall told us that EHTERAZ was mandatory for any child over 12 who wants to enter the mall with the green healthy status. If the child fails to present a mobile phone without the EHTERAZ to the officials/security before entering the mall, they won't be allowed to enter.

How will the malls check whether the child is 12+?

While Mall of Qatar and Tawar Mall said they were checking the child's age, if needed, by checking their proof of age, through the Qatar ID or passport, DFC is taking a practical approach when it comes to confirming the child is 12+ based on their height to ensure someone who is under 12, doesn't try to enter the mall.

The malls have reduced the number of entrances so they can manage people entering and leaving the malls making it easier to monitor children coming in to ensure they are 12+ and have the EHTERAZ app with the healthy green status. The temperature of all mall visitors and staff is also being strictly monitored.

We're pretty sure the rest of the malls are all following the same protocols. Most of the people who have visited the malls since yesterday have been happy with the preventive and precautionary measures being followed by the malls, and have said that the malls are following all necessary protocols.

It's best to stay at home, unless absolutely necessary, especially for children and those over 60 years. Children who are under 12 and adults over the age of 60 are not allowed in the malls or in supermarkets.

If you have any further questions about the EHTERAZ app, check out the Frequently asked questions about EHTERAZ and whether all children need the EHTERAZ app. The app has also been recently updated to include visa option during registration, so you may want to check that out, too.

PLEASE STAY SAFE!
