Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, resumed its activities for the month of July by launching the ‘2020 Summer Camp’ for the age group ranging between 16 to 20 years old which was held from July 12 till 23 July.
The virtual summer camp was aligned with the current circumstances to explore the proper educational environment for students during the summer period through the optimal use of advanced technologies. The innovative approach adopted by Bedaya aimed to hone the skills of participants and raise awareness about entrepreneurship through educational activities and workshops, with the ability to communicate with new friends online at home through a high-quality remote training platform to enhance their capabilities.

Moreover, special kits were shared with all participants including all the required tools and gadgets in the diverse interactive workshops and online sessions that was conducted during the camp period, such as the Clay session, the Plant Care Workshop, Canvas Painting, Cooking and Embroidery. In addition, the camp also included a variety of workshops that sought to develop participants' business skills and enhance their desire and ambition to launch their startups in the future, such as the "How to be a technology entrepreneur" workshop, the "How to start a fashion project" workshop, and the "Creative Thinking" workshop. Following the completion of the camp, certificates were awarded to the best participants, based on attendance, degree of creativity and project quality.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdulla Faleh Al Saeed - Board Member and Acting General Manager of Bedaya Center commented:” We are always keen on supporting our youth by helping them to develop their knowledge, skills and experience in relation to entrepreneurship, which encourages them to develop bold and courageous ideas and think about proceeding with their own projects that qualify them to start their practical life successfully. Through this camp we aimed to stimulate their capabilities and raise the level of awareness and reduce the gap between them and the actual market, so that they are prepared to realize their dreams and aspirations, which will eventually support the SME sector which is considered an essential tributary in the economic cycle of the country”.
“In line with the endeavors of Qatar and the instructions of the Qatar Ministry of Public Health to take all necessary preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its implications, the 2020 Summer Camp was held this year using modern and advanced technologies such as the "Zoom" video communications platform, to ensure the provision of a flexible interactive environment to overcome the barrier of time and space and most importantly keeping the safety of all participants in mind,” he added.
