Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Bishri, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Higher Education, revealed that about 97% of the administrative, academic, and other school staff have been vaccinated in various schools since last February and until now at the Qatar National Convention Center.
In his interview with Qatar Television, he added that about 70% of high school students were vaccinated until yesterday, pointing out that this came with full cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Public Health.
About the policy of excluding the student from attending the current exams, Mr. Al Bishri said that there are no exceptions to the exams and that the only exception is in the event that the student is infected with the COVID-19 virus or has contact with an infected person, and the followed procedure is to present a medical certificate or a medical excuse from the Ministry of Public Health. Thus, the student will be compensated for attending the exams in the second round.
In response to a question about if the test day coincided with the day of receiving the vaccine, or if the student suffered from side effects of the vaccine and was unable to attend the tests, the advisor to the Minister of Education and Higher Education said: "Coordination has been made with the Ministry of Public Health, provided that the date of vaccination does not conflict with the date of the tests. If this happens, the student will be compensated for the second round exams. "
He continued: In the event that the student incurs a health problem, he must go to the health center or hospital, and if his condition requires - after detection - absence, he will be given a medical certificate or a health excuse, and he will also be compensated for the second-round exams.
Regarding the progress of the tests and how the ministry is prepared to ensure the safety of everyone, Mr. Al-Bishri said that the ministry prepared for the tests of the various stages from the first to the twelfth grade before conducting them at an early date. Tests, as well as adhering to the spacing.
He continued: Coordination has also been made with the "Karwa" company to implement the precautionary measures in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, and it has been ensured that the drivers of the buses designated for transporting students are isolated from the rest of the drivers.
The advisor to the Minister of Education and Higher Education stated that ensuring that all components of the educational process system in public and private schools abide by the intensive application of precautionary measures, and this is monitored through inspection teams of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Public Health teams, as the teams make visits to schools on a daily basis.
