The world has been forever changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has made us significantly alter various aspects of our lives - from global travel to our daily tasks such as work and study.
Here in Qatar, it’s been no different, but we have seen the strength of the local community shine through. Let’s take a look at some of the things we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
It's a common norm for people in Qatar to meet face to face and discuss even if the agendas are short. With home isolation, people being in quarantine and working from home, we were forced to move to virtual meetings and it was a new concept to many. However, after a while, many realized that virtual meetings actually save a lot of time in terms of avoiding travel time and the hassle to look for parking.
Many businesses in Qatar did not have an online presence except the big ones. Before the pandemic, there were a limited number of businesses that had e-commerce platforms where you could order online. Businesses understood the need and took the e-commerce route rather quickly, and now, we can have pretty much everything delivered to our homes with a couple of clicks.
We had limited food delivery app options before the pandemic and they were mainly focused on delivering food from restaurants. Within the first year of the pandemic, many food delivery applications were developed and expanded their category of deliveries to flowers, medicines, groceries, tech products, toys and even apparel!
All that we have seen over the past 2 years only highlights the adaptability and resilience of Qatar and the local community. The collective effort of the people of Qatar has helped to see the country through the pandemic and shows what can be achieved when working together.
