In a press conference tonight April 9, 2020, held by H.E. Lolwah Al Khater, the Official Spokesperson of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management it was announced that the minimum amount needed to open a bank account is now removed to ensure that ALL individuals can open a bank account.

Her Excellency announced that in the context of the continuous efforts to mitigate the consequences of the precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus on everyone in the State of Qatar, it has been decided to provide all the necessary facilities for domestic workers to open bank accounts, including exempting them from the minimum to open the account to facilitate making bank transfers to their countries and families under these difficult circumstances.
