UPDATED:

GCO announced the application of the quarantine system for only one week after returning from travel, regardless of destination, provided that the home quarantine system is applied to those coming from the countries included in the Green List of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

The hotel quarantine system is mandatory for those coming from countries not included in the Green list (This is the list of Low-Risk Countries as of November 20, 2020. Please check the latest announcement), taking into account that the people who are subject to quarantine in the shared quarantine facilities will be the same for two weeks.

The Government Communications Office (GCO) announced that in continuation of the procedures for gradually lifting the coronavirus restrictions imposed in Qatar and based on general epidemiological indicators locally and internationally, and within the implementation of the previously announced travel and return policy to the State of Qatar, certain changes have been made to the exceptional entry system and they are as follows.

Residents who are currently in Qatar and who wish to travel and return again can obtain an exceptional entry permit from the Ministry of Interior's (MoI) website at any time.

In a statement released on Thursday, the GCO said residents who are currently in the State of Qatar and wish to travel and return will automatically receive an exceptional entry permit upon departure. The resident or their employer will be able to printout the exceptional entry permit from the Ministry of Interior’s website at any point after the resident has departed Qatar. Requests will no longer need to be submitted through the “Qatar Portal” website. The permit will be available automatically upon registration of the resident’s departure from Qatar.

This new automatic exceptional entry permit service does not include residents who are currently outside Qatar and they are still required to obtain the exceptional return permit via the “Qatar Portal” website if they wish to return to Qatar.

According to these new procedures, a COVID-19 test will be conducted for returnees on the first day of arrival (in the event that the examination is not carried out in the centres approved by the MoPH within 48 hours before travelling to Qatar). Then a second test for them on the sixth day of the date of arrival, knowing that the health status on the application of precaution will be yellow until the end of the seventh day from the date of arrival.

These decisions will be implemented as of Sunday, November 29, 2020.
