Shops in Souq Waqif and the Old Al Wakrah Souq have been exempted from their rents for four months starting from 1 April 2020, according to the Private Engineering Office, based on a report in the Qatar Tribune.
In addition, shops in the old Al Khor Souq, Najada Market, Faleh and Asiri Markets near the Souq Waqif, Deira Market, Nasser Bin Saif Market and other markets that are also supervised by the Private Engineering Office have also been exempted from their rents for the next four months.
This measure has been taken by the Qatari government to encourage Qatari investors to strengthen the preventive measures against the coronavirus (COVID-19).
