Water and
Electricity is run by one major company, Kahramaa. (Kahrabaa means
electricity in Arabic, Maa means water, so they joined the words
together to make Kahramaa).
In
order to join Kahramaa, you will need to get a copy of their
sign up form, a copy of the contract for the house, a copy of
your ID, your phone number, PO Box number, and the reference
number for your electricity and water. (Your landlord should
provide ALL this information for you). You usually have to pay a
deposit as well.
Your first
bill will be an estimate. In order to avoid any confusion ALWAYS
make sure that you check your meter because you don't want to
pay to much right?

them switch off
when you
leave the house! |

SUGGESTION:
Qatar is a hot country right? Why not invest in SOLAR
panels? You can use them to heat up your water or even
power some of your electricity! |

Although
Qatar's water is VERY VERY clean and is drinkable, it doesn't taste
that great. So many people prefer to buy bottled water. Bottled
water in itself is also very cheap. (Which is great for a hot
country). You can get some companies to delivery large bottles of
water to your home. Here are some numbers.

SUGGESTION:
Get a water filter! But not a cheap one, get a trusted
brand. It'll save you alot of time and money! They are

There are two mobile networks in Qatar; Vodafone and Qtel. Qtel
has telephone, internet, tv on demand, and landline services. Vodafone provides mobile services nationaly but fixed line services (including internet) in certain areas like the Pearl. We've compiled a list of numbers which might help

Satellite and Television:

are quite a few alternatives to freeview television. You
have a choice of Orbit, Showtime, Satellite, and Mozaic as
television channel providers. Each have different packages
but some have similar channels. I've provided telephone
numbers along with their own personal website. (Please note that Orbit and Showtime used to be seperate companies and have merged together now)
