73-year-old Qatari dies of MERS

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) yesterday confirmed the death of a 73-year-old Qatari infected with MERS — Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. 

SCH reported the case last Friday. 

118 deaths of Indian expatriates reported this year

A total of 118 Indian expatriates have died in Qatar this year, the monthly Open House of the Indian embassy was informed on Thursday. During May, 18 Indians died in Qatar. The number of deaths registered at the Indian embassy in 2014 was 279.

Two Qataris die in accident

Two citizens were killed and another was injured in an accident on Salwa Road yesterday. Al Sharq said the incident happened around noon when a pick-up carrying them collided with an overturned truck. Further details could not be known.

A student of an Asian community school was hospitalised in a critical condition after being stabbed by a schoolmate last Thursday.

The student was involved in a heated exchange with his attacker over a monetary dispute, local Arabic daily Al Raya reported yesterday.
