The National Museum of Qatar is scheduled to open in 2018 as the ultimate reflection of the country’s culture and heritage – celebrating both its historic and contemporary influences in order to open up dialogue on the ongoing changes happening throughout the nation. And for Culture Pass-holders Qatar Museums will be offering up 50 exclusive tours!

Designed by world-famous French architect Jean Nouvel, and shaped like a desert rose to symbolize the relationship between sea and desert in the life of Qataris, the museum stands as a reflection of Qatar’s outstanding commitment to arts.

Qatar Museums is also now offering around 16,000 Culture Passes to residents of Qatar, giving them a unique opportunity to go on an exclusive tour of The National Museum. The Culture Pass includes other benefits such as discounts at QM cafés and gift shops, plus workshops that are only available to Culture Pass members, and private tours of exhibitions and art galleries.

Qatar Museums is led by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in its efforts to establish an arts, culture, and education hub here in the Middle East. It was founded in 2005 to provide opportunities for existing museums, cultural institutions, and heritage sites to thrive.

It plays an important role behind the establishment of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, and the Al Zubarah World Heritage Site Visitor Centre. It also manages the QM Gallery at Katara Cultural Village, the AL RIWAQ Doha Exhibition space, and Fire Station Art Gallery. Future Qatar Museums projects include The Qatar National Museum, and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, as they strive to provide a safe ground for local, contemporary artists to get inspired, thrive and flourish.
