Mowasalat has waived its taxi booking charges as well as technology service charges of QR1 from July 15, 2018, Peninsula Qatar reported.

Telephone booking charge within Doha city per trip was QR5, and booking charge to Hamad International Airport was QR8. Passengers won’t be charged these additional charges from Sunday onwards.

Mowasalat made the announcement on their Twitter account and also posted an explanatory taxi receipt highlighting the changes in the fare structure.

These waivers come as a special promotion and it is not mentioned till when it will last. According to Mowasalat, management will decide later on this issue.

Some international app-based taxi companies, which operate in Qatar, are currently not charging any booking fees. But they do charge surge (extra) charge during peak times which is not applicable with Karwa.

Mowasalat had earlier said that technology service charge was meant to cover expenses of Internet connectivity through which taximeters of Karwa cabs were connected with Karwa centre.
