The Sheraton Doha is promising its guests a five-star Iftar experience with a variety of buffet menus on offer in addition to an authentic traditional ambience at the hotel’s Salwa Ballroom during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Nine Iftar buffet menus comprising around 40 traditional and Mediterranean specialities will be rotated during the month,” said Andre Lange, Director of Food and Beverage.

Food items to be included in the menus have been carefully selected based on the hotel’s years of experience holding the Iftar, one of the key traditional events during the holy month, according to Mahmoud Kanaan, Executive Sous Chef, who has almost 10 years of experience in Doha Sheraton.

Kanaan said each year they adjusted the menus based on feedback from diners, many of whom have become their regular customers.

“After 14 to 16 hours of fasting, people expect something delicious so we will serve the best food in the Middle East and from all over the Mediterranean,” said Kanaan.

The hotel’s kitchen boasts of a host of chefs with origins that can be traced to almost all corners of the world, bringing to diners an authentic culinary experience.

“Food will be prepared by people from different countries so they know the original way of food preparation, which is important,” said Lange, adding knowing Ramadan to be a very important time in Qatar and the Muslim world, they would be offering food that is “a little bit more than usual.”

With the principle that a comfortable setting is equally important with the quality of food served, Sheraton Doha has collaborated with a decoration company to turn Salwa Ballroom into a cozy dining spot with the traditional Ramadan atmosphere.

The buffet is priced at QR195 and will be open after sunset until 10.30pm and will catered to the entire family, with a kids’ room to be provided.

The venue, which can accommodate up to 300 persons, would also feature live cooking stations.
