The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee has congratulated volunteers who contributed to the success of the IHF Super Globe Championship 2014 in a special two-day ceremony held at the Qatar 2015 Volunteers Centre.

More than 150 volunteers offered their services during the Super Globe, which took place in Doha in September. Volunteers participated through a wide range of roles and made a significant contribution to the success and smooth running of the event.

As a gesture of thanks, volunteers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation by Abdulla Al Hajri, Head of the Administration Committee, Qatar 2015 and participated in a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate their commendable efforts at the IHF Super Globe Championship 2014.

Volunteers at the felicitation programme were also encouraged to share their feedback about the event as the Qatar 2015 Volunteers Programme will be looking to replicate and further its success at the upcoming test events in Doha, as well as the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship, which begins on 15 January 2015.

In the run up to that sporting mega-event, the Qatar 2015 Volunteers Programme is extending its invitation for more volunteers, in particular for Qatari Nationals to participate and contribute to a key moment in their national sports history.

Qatari nationals who are interested in taking part are invited to attend a special Open House event, taking place on Saturday 1st November and Sunday 2nd November, from 10am to 8pm, at the Qatar 2015 Volunteers Centre, located in Qatar Sports Club in Doha.

The Open House will answer any questions people might have about volunteering and introduce them to the wide range of roles and opportunities available during the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship. Registrations and interviews will also be held to ensure participation in the Championship.

In addition, trained team members will brief attendees about the volunteer requirements across service areas such as Accommodation, Accreditation, Airport Services, Media & Broadcasting, Protocol, Spectator Services, Transport, Uniforms and Workforce.

Qatar 2015 will be one of the biggest and most important events in Olympic sport in 2015, and will offer significant opportunities for everyone who takes part. The 2015 Organising Committee is encouraging more local participation in the programme as it looks to select a final team of 1,500 volunteers from Qatar and the wider region to take part.

People who are interested in attending the Open House must bring their Qatari ID for registration, and people under the age of 18 should come with a parent or legal guardian.
