Bojan Mustur, a Doha based photographer and a storyteller who knows how to combine both, talent and good targets to have a picture highlighting a feeling and an emotion. He aims to uncover the Doha city and its life through his photography.

Can you please tell us about your background?

I completed BA and MA in digital / virtual scenography for theater, film and television at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo at the Department of Product Design. Since 2008, I have been a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Association of Fine Arts, Painters and Designers. I presented works in over 40 cities worldwide.

How did you introduce your journey into photography?

I grew up watching movies. I used to spend hours studying motion pictures and classic movie. Although my greatest wish was to become a film director, photography became its charismatic replacement! It was much simpler and smoother - it helped me to be recognized.

At the beginning, I didn’t feel comfortable taking pictures, so I was doing it mostly using my mobile. But as the time was passing, my confidence was growing, so I started carrying the camera around. Approaching people, talking with the labourers, having chats with passers-by.

How is Qatar as a photography destination?

Qatar is a beautiful country, a hidden gem of the Persian Gulf.

It’s a country of magical tradition and history. It's enough only to get on the dhow, to widen up your views, to freed your soul. It offers a lot to the photographers, researchers, storytellers and tourists.

What are your favorite photography destinations in Qatar?

My favourite spots for photography in Qatar are undoubtable West Bay, Corniche and Souq Wakif.I love them because they remind me of the cities and places I left a piece of myself in.

Qatar is a place where the flavours of almost all the world's cuisines tickle your senses. And culture? You can never be hungry for it here but you're always longing for love and pride.

Tell us about some of your favorite photography pieces?

I personally like the most “Faces of Doha” - a project that I am working on at the moment. People's faces in Qatar tell different stories, but most of them have beautiful, unstained energy and true happiness.

My wish is to present Doha as a city, Qatar as a country where different cultures and traditions meet, where people live the way they love, but still with a Qatari blend, where you can feel peace and prosperity - I think you can't find that everywhere. For me, happiness is the second name of Qatar!

How do people react when you ask random strangers to be model?

After all, I can say that people here like being photographed. They feel special because you pay them attention, you love their faces. With only one “click” you capture a precious moment for them that's gone forever, impossible to reproduce!

What are your future plans?

My future plans are to finish my project Faces of Doha. The goal is to take pictures of as many people as possible. Maybe the whole country! I want to tell their stories and show them to the world.

For the beginning, it could be photo exhibitions and in near future, through virtual museums. We live in the digital era and everything is on the palm of our hand.

And Qatar is the country of the future. The world should know how we live here, and how our everyday life looks like. It's an oasis of happiness, peace and satisfaction. The endless soul that flies towards you, embraces you!
