Hi again everyone,
I just wanted to ask how long it would take to get a work visa in Qatar?
I mean, what is the average time length to wait before just giving up?
The average time is anything between 2 weeks to 3 months.
There are a number of factors which can hold it up, but don't worry it'll come through if they say you're accepted :)
Just get it in writing of course!
it depends sometimes on the company, there are companies that could process it less than 2 weeks...so hopefully your company is among them...;) otherwise, it could take as much as 3 months...but as what amnesia advise, have your approval in writing...
Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
can i get a tourist visa 1st and apply for work there? like what alot of job-hunters in dubai do? do companies allow tourist visa holders to apply for work and eventuali get a work permit as soon as they get hired?
It's the same as it would be in Dubai. People get a tourist visa, they come and apply for work, however they are not allowed to work until they get a work permit.
i learned that the qatari embassy decides as to how long 1 cn stay as a tourist? it'l b between 14 to 30days onli, right? will that b enough to get a job? what are the options available if my visit visa expires? can my father sponsor me instead? he's been there for a month already holding a visit-work visa for 5yrs
You'll get a minimum of 2 weeks and it can be extended.
(can be up to 3 months)
You will need a sponsor either way however I don't think you'll be able to extend it any further.
The best person to advise you is the Philipinnes embassy.
You can find more info on the Visa section on the left of the site.
And you can find the embassy number there as well :)
great help amnesia...merci merci
Hi Everyone ... I am waiting for my visa ... Well the Company is CBQ ... Any idea how much time these guys take to get a visa ... Its already past 6 weeks now ... any idea anyone ???
it could take anything up to 3 months.
What have they advised you?
Are they saying that everything is going through?
Can you get it in writing? (just for your own records)
Well they never asked me to resign my current employer ... but I resigned after I got the offer letter ...
in a week i'll be jobless ... I had a word with a few other guys in QL who like had to wait 8 weeks to get their visa through CBQ ...
So probably another 2 weeks ... lets hope I get it ...
they say that its been delayed from the immigration dept's side ... so they are helpless and cant do anything but wait ...
I am a software engineer by the way ...
How are you doing?
I need your help!!!
>I have signed offer letter for one of the company in Doha, and email the scanned copies of the documents they asked me on 7jan 2008..
>And till then I am waiting for my Visa. I am regularly calling my employer. And the response from ther side is that "they are also waiting for t he same"..
>I have clean police record in my country and I have never visited qatar or any other country even..
>I have scanned copy of offer letter in with me.
>I have heared from the resources that the sponsor who sponsored my Visa, got died..
>please suggest me what to do.
>your suggesstions will be highly appericiated.
Hey Saikap ...
from my understanding, no one can help with the status of your visa ... only thing we can do is just hope and wait until it comes ... it may take anytime between 2 to 3 months ... I spoke to a British and a Pakistani guy who got their visas in 2 months ... so your visa should also be due in a week or so ... keep up your hope and enjoy the forums until then ...
By the way, to get better attention to your posts, if its a new topic or doubt ... post a new thread/topic ... you may get faster replies ...
Thank you so much for your suggestion.. I will do that.
its ok HiQatar, I'm sure it'll work out.
Some companies are just not efficient.
That's why a new registration system is being applied within Qatar to help ensure a better and more assuring way of processing.
@saikap, yeah don't worry it does take time.
Just to give you all a perspective. As a Qatari, it took me TWO months for processing of my application and to produce a contract of acceptance.
This is WITH a great push and THEM begging me to work for them. :P
The delays are due to the heavy flow of people into Qatar applying for jobs,
Thanks for your time and suggestion.:ty:
But, the other day I called my employer to confirm about my Visa. He replied" That only two three Visas has been stucked up including mine. Otherwise guys are moving to qatar Frequently".
I kept my fingers crossed and hope for the best. :)o
Hi evrybody, i've been a lurker for a while in this forum, congrats to the administrator. I've gotten really useful info from here..
Amnesia, i can tell you have a lot of info on the subject, do you happen to know which companies have greater influence on visa approval? I've been waiting for my visa for a while but i can't actually know how long ago did the company submitted my papers.. I'm a attending an introduction course in a country nearby on september 15th, but the company won't book my flight to the course until i get my visa, i'm really scared i miss it since i would have to wai until a spot opens in another course.
Thank you in advance.
hey there Litser, It's funny but I'd say 90% of the people on ILQ are readers rather than posters.
Every company has equal chance of course, it's just that some get it done faster like the Qatar Financial Center :) (Within a week)
Hey Amnesia! wow you are quick! thank you very much for your prompt answer! I really hope the company in which i will be working is as fast as the Qatar Financial Center =p LOL. I will be writing as soon as i get desperate again, i just recharged my patience batteries :)
Hey evryone, trying to obtain my work visa, my company asked me to attest all documents by the embassy of Qatar in my country of origin. I went to the embassy and they told me they couldn't attest any documents since here in this country there isn't a consular office, and that i should take the documents to qatar and let My embassy attest them once i'm there. In this sense, the company asked me for the non attested documents to make all tramits. Do you think this could be slowing down the process?
I remember this being an issue for a few australian friends, usually a law firm verifying documents should be enough.
