Diplomatic Club

After introducing extensive changes to the menus of its renowned restaurants and bringing in two new chefs to run the show, the Diplomatic Club invited the media for a sneak preview of the new fare of Le Grill on yesterday.

Le Grill is the club's famed steakhouse, which has a reputation for serving the juiciest, most tender cuts of beef in town. "We import the freshest Wagyu beef all the way from Australia to prepare our steaks," said new Executive Chef Joseph Yammine, "and throughout the trip and storage, the beef is never allowed to be frozen to preserve its consistency. It is kept chilled just above freezing to keep it fresh without destroying its tender texture." "Our freshly baked onion bread is also a huge favourite with guests," said the chef.

Sayyad, on the other hand, is just as popular, if not more, for its exquisite seafood dishes and complementary cold mezza. "Our seafood is purchased locally everyday to ensure quality and freshness," shared Chef Joseph.

"The two restaurants have proved extremely popular with our guests over the years," shares Trager. "In fact, we have a very loyal, discerning clientele, some of who dine with us every single day simply because nothing else compares." Then why the changes in the menu and the kitchen? "Both restaurants have been around for a few years now, and precisely because we have a loyal clientele, we owe it to them to provide some variety."

For the third year running, InterContinental Doha is organising an overnight camp for children from six to 14 years old by the Hotel's beach, on June 26.

The evening will be full of activities including games, barbecue on the beach, sing alongs and traditional roasting of marshmallows around the camp fire after dinner. Kids will also have to build their tent and set up the camp for the night. An early wake up call with a steaming cup of hot chocolate will allow the children to experience the sun rising over the Bay's water.

The children will be taken care of by The Bay Club professional team starting Thursday at 3.30pm and can be picked up at the club by 9am on Friday.

In order to provide the best experience for the children the maximum number of participants is restricted to 120.

Children from eight to 12 years old will also have the opportunity to participate in group tennis classes for beginners on June 20 and 21, from 3pm to 6pm.
